Well, she just had her third baby. I'm so excited to finally be able to return the favor!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Katie and I are high school softball teammates. Here is a picture of us and the other two seniors on the team at our senior prom. That's me on the left with the blue dress. Katie is next to me in black. Don't we clean up nicely? It is tough to tell but we were on the field just hours before.<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l4vDOrzG7jY/UqY9MyJY5nI/AAAAAAAABUM/ttGvu3hPzgA/s1600/NDA+Softball+picture.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-l4vDOrzG7jY/UqY9MyJY5nI/AAAAAAAABUM/ttGvu3hPzgA/s320/NDA+Softball+picture.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Like many of us with our high school friends, college and life got in the way of keeping in touch but facebook and motherhood reconnected us. A year ago, she posted this photo on facebook: </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vhn2H7c4XKk/UqY_C1cHkJI/AAAAAAAABUY/zD4OgKhN_g0/s1600/Katie's+Instagram.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Vhn2H7c4XKk/UqY_C1cHkJI/AAAAAAAABUY/zD4OgKhN_g0/s320/Katie's+Instagram.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Her daughter's pillow inspired some cards in her (then) upcoming spring line. Her picture inspired me too. I have been holding this idea in the back of my mind-until now. It is finally time for me to bring my idea to life. Here are the tees I made for her kiddos: </div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o-i_UwasWwQ/Uwdpx-L-ZdI/AAAAAAAABbU/OFg53G9ZqOA/s1600/Fish+Sibling+Tees.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o-i_UwasWwQ/Uwdpx-L-ZdI/AAAAAAAABbU/OFg53G9ZqOA/s1600/Fish+Sibling+Tees.jpg" height="211" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I made Madeline's a little more girlie with a turquoise tee and coral fish...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KUGuJ-rtoVE/UwdmuCiW7bI/AAAAAAAABa4/KhitJH4y8Z8/s1600/P1030474.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KUGuJ-rtoVE/UwdmuCiW7bI/AAAAAAAABa4/KhitJH4y8Z8/s1600/P1030474.JPG" height="320" width="259" /></a></div>
<br />
...and made the brothers' shirts using a light blue tee and orange fish.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vmOWxT7ojvo/Uwdnf6ogrKI/AAAAAAAABbA/R4wJjgyRBk8/s1600/P1030476.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vmOWxT7ojvo/Uwdnf6ogrKI/AAAAAAAABbA/R4wJjgyRBk8/s1600/P1030476.JPG" height="320" width="260" /></a></div>
<br />
With Owen's tee, I decided to experiment with the placement of his name. Which do you like? The name in the middle, like Madeline's or off to the right like Owen's?<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
I've never been a huge fan of onesies (all those snaps) so with Colin's I thought I would try the lap shoulder tee.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RyomMH6XbNc/UwdnlnXT2kI/AAAAAAAABbI/R4CVDU2_Go8/s1600/P1030480.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RyomMH6XbNc/UwdnlnXT2kI/AAAAAAAABbI/R4CVDU2_Go8/s1600/P1030480.JPG" height="320" width="265" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the way they turned out! I may have to make a version for Bug and her cousins or a BFF version. What do you think?<br />
<div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
Sooo it is now two days past Valentine's Day and I just finished my husband's Christmas present. Sigh. Wel,l to be fair, all of my gift making time last holiday season was spent on our DIY Doc McStuffins check up center. <div>
<br /><div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w4l-3ar47MM/UwE1t9SK7iI/AAAAAAAABZg/EwxiJu5CByA/s1600/P1030449.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w4l-3ar47MM/UwE1t9SK7iI/AAAAAAAABZg/EwxiJu5CByA/s1600/P1030449.JPG" height="320" width="248" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Sorry for the blurry picture. It was dark, 6:00 am and my camera is just awful. I wish I knew Santa had left me a new DSLR under the tree. I would have used that camera.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Back to the apron. I purchased the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JM15Z6/" target="_blank">blank apron</a> on Amazon because the reviews said it was a good length for tall guys. (My hubby is 6'5".) I agree. It covers him well. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I cut out the numbers from an old baseball jersey of his. I have to admit, there was something very satisfying about cutting up an old Padres' jersey. (I am from Los Angeles.) ;)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gJqHZdqt7tE/UwE7RznLyaI/AAAAAAAABZw/cNslohopd2o/s1600/DSC_0045.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gJqHZdqt7tE/UwE7RznLyaI/AAAAAAAABZw/cNslohopd2o/s1600/DSC_0045.JPG" height="212" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then I used (permanent) heat n' bond to attach the numbers to the front. Easy. I don't know why it took so long. Oh wait. Yes I do. I have a three year old.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UZaffzzRloY/UwFGXausm-I/AAAAAAAABaM/bGrS2yqtRqU/s1600/P1030471.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UZaffzzRloY/UwFGXausm-I/AAAAAAAABaM/bGrS2yqtRqU/s1600/P1030471.JPG" height="320" width="184" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also don't know why it took me so long to discover Heat N Bond. Have you used it? On what? </div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4lD5LgPy8sc/UvmKs35v4kI/AAAAAAAABY8/wSLu30R3i7A/s1600/SHOP+ANNOUNCEMENT.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4lD5LgPy8sc/UvmKs35v4kI/AAAAAAAABY8/wSLu30R3i7A/s1600/SHOP+ANNOUNCEMENT.jpg" height="160" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As some of you know, we are building a house. The builder is moving crazy fast. Which is awesome but we have soooo much to do to our current house in order to get it ready to rent.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ylpb8cq5n0Y/UvmHdpjE1gI/AAAAAAAABYw/YypXcLA5pLE/s1600/house.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ylpb8cq5n0Y/UvmHdpjE1gI/AAAAAAAABYw/YypXcLA5pLE/s1600/house.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
In order to get things done in time without losing my mind, I am temporarily taking all made to order items (mostly <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/BluewaterRoadKids?section_id=11821125&ref=shopsection_leftnav_1" target="_blank">t-shirts</a>) out of <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/BluewaterRoadKids" target="_blank">my shop</a>. I'm leaving my quick ship items (<a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/BluewaterRoadKids?section_id=13417088&ref=shopsection_leftnav_3" target="_blank">toilet targets</a> and zipper pulls) and digital items (<a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/BluewaterRoadKids?section_id=14801203&ref=shopsection_leftnav_4" target="_blank">printables</a>) available for purchase.<br />
<br />
Thanks for your patience!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704342901458194021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3228831582725746054.post-43420654264684393692013-12-23T13:06:00.002-07:002013-12-23T13:12:58.261-07:00DIY Doc McStuffins Inspired Felt Band-aidsThe first time we asked our daughter what she wanted for Christmas she said she wanted a bike and helmet for Mama and Daddy. My heart melted. But...we live in Colorado and we will probably not take any family bike rides for a few months. I suggested some more Magna-Tiles since she likes to build with those and it is one of the toys I can tolerate playing with too. I also suggested some more art supplies since the kid seems to go through glue sticks and watercolor paint like there is no tomorrow. She agreed.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I thought I was getting off easy until...she sat on Santa's lap and told him she wanted Doc McStuffins everything. Great.<br />
<br />
A quick Pinterest search revealed a ridiculous amount of Doc McStuffins merchandise but then I remembered I had pinned some felt band-aids for stuffed animals. All I had to do add a pink heart. So I present to you my DIY Doc McStuffins felt band-aids. Note: I am sharing with you how I made these with the materials I had on hand. At the bottom of this post I also share some other options.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2aMGcpGUW7Q/UrRtSKdj-gI/AAAAAAAABUo/P2Dz1NWS04Q/s1600/Felt+Band-aids.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2aMGcpGUW7Q/UrRtSKdj-gI/AAAAAAAABUo/P2Dz1NWS04Q/s1600/Felt+Band-aids.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Materials: </b><br />
<ul>
<li>brown felt</li>
<li>white felt</li>
<li>Heat n Bond (permanent kind)</li>
<li>3/4 inch beige Velcro (scratchy side only)</li>
<li>pink glitter heat transfer vinyl </li>
</ul>
<b><br /></b>
<b>Tools:</b><br />
<ul>
<li>heat press (or iron*)</li>
<li>Silhouette Cameo </li>
<li>scissors</li>
<li>pick tool </li>
<li>paper cutter</li>
</ul>
<b><br /></b>
<b>Directions:</b><br />
<br />
STEP 1 Cut out all pieces to size.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fn6Kcu8slVE/Urhwd5NElLI/AAAAAAAABVI/G6aFJ3r8L3s/s1600/felt+band-aid+measurments.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fn6Kcu8slVE/Urhwd5NElLI/AAAAAAAABVI/G6aFJ3r8L3s/s320/felt+band-aid+measurments.jpg" width="311" /></a></div>
<br />
I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the heart. I used "4 hearts" by Lori Whitlock (Design ID #20253). The exact size is 0.815" by 0.950".<br />
<br />
STEP 2 Apply Heat n Bond to white felt pieces and the Velcro pieces.<br />
<br />
To learn more about Heat n Bond, click <a href="http://www.thermowebonline.com/p/ultrahold-single-pack-17-x-1-yard/our-brands_heatnbond_heatnbond-ultrahold?pp=24" target="_blank">here</a> for .pdf instructions or watch their YouTube video here:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/dmDvjE14tek?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></div>
<br />
<span style="background-color: white;">STEP 3 Assemble parts.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mr7_Rj-tACE/UrhzHMEaa_I/AAAAAAAABVU/0SMpyDpnrUM/s1600/assemble+pic+with+text.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="247" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mr7_Rj-tACE/UrhzHMEaa_I/AAAAAAAABVU/0SMpyDpnrUM/s320/assemble+pic+with+text.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">I centered the heart on one side. (This is easy since the heat transfer vinyl has a built in transfer tape.) On the reverse side, I centered the white felt rectangle and placed the small strips of Velcro at both ends. (see picture)</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">STEP 4 Apply heat.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;"><i>Option 1</i>: I set my heat press </span><span style="background-color: white;"> (I use one in my </span><a href="http://www.bluewaterroaddesigns.com/" target="_blank">shops</a><span style="background-color: white;">) </span><span style="background-color: white;">to 320 degrees and pressed for 15 seconds. </span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;"><i>Option 2*:</i> Now I do realize that not everyone has access to a heat press.You can use an iron too. Use a scrap piece of fabric and cover the band-aid. Then set iron to cotton setting and press firmly for 45 to 60 seconds to adhere the heart. Flip the band-aid over and iron on the white rectangle and Velcro for another 8 seconds.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
STEP 5 Use scissors to round the corners.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sN5jPPZduUo/UrSqvkBB5yI/AAAAAAAABU4/Ow2nfq3oRxQ/s1600/P1030415.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sN5jPPZduUo/UrSqvkBB5yI/AAAAAAAABU4/Ow2nfq3oRxQ/s1600/P1030415.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
That's it!<br />
<br />
Of course the band-aids need a storage box. Here is the one I created with a little spray paint (leftover from my <a href="http://bluewaterroaddesigns.blogspot.com/2013/08/easy-diy-rainbow-hopscotch-made-with.html" target="_blank">hopscotch project</a>) and an Altoids box:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RBHKfTQQ6pM/Urh1v6iK8wI/AAAAAAAABVg/Uui3wzsIdKM/s1600/altoids+box.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="141" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RBHKfTQQ6pM/Urh1v6iK8wI/AAAAAAAABVg/Uui3wzsIdKM/s320/altoids+box.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I got the idea from <a href="http://www.freeprettythingsforyou.com/2011/04/you-made-it-with-fptfy-pretty-things/" target="_blank">Pretty Things by Keren Dukes</a>.<br />
<br />
<b>Other Options:</b><br />
<br />
If you have a sewing machine, check out this<a href="http://littlebeanworkshop.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/play-vet-clinic-and-felt-band-aid.html?m=1" target="_blank"> tutorial</a> from Little Bean Workshop and this <a href="http://pinkandgreenmama.blogspot.com/2010/02/feel-better-felt-band-aids-and-toilet.html" target="_blank">tutorial</a> from Pink and Green Mama. But if you are more of a glue gun girl (or guy), check out this <a href="http://onelittleproject.com/make-band-aids-out-of-felt/" target="_blank">tutorial</a> from onelittleproject.com.<br />
<br />
Whatever method you use, I hope you and your kiddos have a blast "taking all the ouches away!"<br />
<br />
P.S. Here is the matching Doc McStuffins headband I made from a purple headband and some flowers I got at Joann's. I just used my glue gun to attach one of the flowers to the side of the headband.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vQPEm1Ygh9I/Urh3GbF1_0I/AAAAAAAABVo/-WQEfDIsE7w/s1600/headband+collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vQPEm1Ygh9I/Urh3GbF1_0I/AAAAAAAABVo/-WQEfDIsE7w/s320/headband+collage.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I also bought a <a href="https://www.4mdmedical.com/index.php/catalog/product/view/id/19320/s/single-head-stethoscope-lavender/?gclid=CNfmkuGQs7kCFTFo7Aod1HgA_Q#.Urh3UvRDvPV" target="_blank">lavender stethoscope</a> from at a medical supply company for only $3.39! I'm hoping to share the DIY Doc McStuffins check-up table my husband made soon. Stay tuned!!<br />

Seriously. I spend <i>way</i> too much time browsing for decorative pillows on Etsy, West Elm and Target's websites. When I came across this pillow from Target, I was tempted to throw it in my cart, but I (proudly) stopped myself. We are saving for a new house and to be honest, I would rather have hardwood floors. </div>

<br />
As I reluctantly closed my laptop I thought, "That would make an adorable Christmas sweater for a Luke." Luke is my nephew. On my last trip home, he told me I was his best friend. Don't you just wish life came with a pause and replay button?<br />
<br />
A week later, I came across a gray and white striped long sleeve tee in the clearance section at Target. The gears in my brain started turning. Maybe I could just make Luke a tee? (Whenever Auntie Caroline misses Luke, she makes him a one-of-a-kind tee.) Maybe I could use a pick-up truck like his daddy's?<br />
<div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Isn't she pretty?</td></tr>

<br />
So during my LO's nap, I busted this out. I love love love the way it turned out!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Now my daughter wants one. Which means my niece will want one too. I'm off to find more inspiration!<br />
<br />
UPDATE: Here is the tee I made my niece.<br />

Not me! I do NOT have the patience for that. I was <i>dying</i> to get confirmation at our 20 week appointment (although I knew Bug was a girl from about 8 weeks) because I just had to know what color baseball/softball glove to get. With this new trend comes a need for cute unisex clothes like my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/124142011/i-heart-colorado-bodysuit-royal-blue?ref=shop_home_active" target="_blank">I Heart Colorado bodysuit</a>. It is perfect for babies born in Colorado or for parents who are from Colorado and are a little homesick.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Of course, the new mama will need a way to keep the bodysuit clean. How about this <i>adorable</i> bib from Denver based<a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/HipViolet" target="_blank"> Hip Violet</a>? I especially love the patterns (polka dot and gingham) that owner Jesi chose when designing this bib.<br />

The mom in me was soooo bummed but the teacher in me totally got it. She was having multiple accidents and I know how hectic the beginning of the school year can be. Bug has been in school for about six weeks now so I feel like we can try to go pull-up-free again. Here is my three part strategy to keep her dry at preschool.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Part One:</b> Custom training pants. I purchased plain white <a href="http://www.target.com/p/gerber-ib-3pk-training-pant-white/-/A-14579522#prodSlot=medium_1_1&term=gerber+training+pants" target="_blank">Gerber training pants</a> from Target and let her decorate them with fabric markers. I did not expect a masterpiece. It is hard to slide the markers across the fabric. My goal here was to create ownership and pride. I want her to want to keep these dry. Note: we had a very important conversation on how these were <i>special</i> markers for a <i>special</i> project. We do NOT color on any other items of clothing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-e85c9Gfaq20/Ul3Je09lZ5I/AAAAAAAABNM/oEOBlHIle04/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-e85c9Gfaq20/Ul3Je09lZ5I/AAAAAAAABNM/oEOBlHIle04/s320/PicMonkey+Collage.jpg" height="320" width="215" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Part Two:</b> Nail polish. Yes, nail polish. Every day she comes home from preschool with dry pants we paint one of her finger nails. I wish I could take credit for this awesome idea but it was actually our pediatrician who suggested it. We use Piggy Paint-a non-toxic, eco-friendly and hypoallergenic nail polish. You can find it on the Piggy Paint's <a href="http://www.piggypaint.com/" target="_blank">website</a>, at children's boutiques and at some Target stores. (They also have nail polish remover.)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--p3ZHUsJ_JY/Ul2lnzG-0wI/AAAAAAAABMg/GQrDJaLpx0g/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--p3ZHUsJ_JY/Ul2lnzG-0wI/AAAAAAAABMg/GQrDJaLpx0g/s400/PicMonkey+Collage.png" height="200" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Part Three:</b> A reward chart. Since Bug has been on a pirate kick recently, I was going to make my own treasure hunt themed reward chart but luckily I found a cute one on <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/109704940896135881/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a> from <a href="http://www.happinessishomemade.net/2013/07/01/printable-pirate-potty-training-reward-chart/" target="_blank">Happiness is Homemade</a>. (There are boy and girl versions.) Every time Bug tells her teacher or me she has to poop, she gets to mark off a coin. In our house, every pirate coin equals one quarter. After five quarters we get to make a trip to the dollar store to buy some new art supplies, like glue sticks, stickers and paper. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PMFzBYKLg8c/Ul2sPG5B0hI/AAAAAAAABMs/8QA3tMXjHpg/s1600/Scan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PMFzBYKLg8c/Ul2sPG5B0hI/AAAAAAAABMs/8QA3tMXjHpg/s320/Scan.jpg" height="232" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br />
Side note: <b> </b>Since Bug now wears big kid underpants, Luke Bear just had to get a pair too. Because Luke Bear is a boy, he got some new boxer briefs. I felt a little weird buying <a href="http://www.buildabear.com/shopping/store/White-Knit-BEARboxer-Shorts-Teddy-Bear-Boxers/productId=prod10220100" target="_blank">underwear</a> at the Build-a-Bear store so I grabbed a cheap t-shirt too.</div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kdhpG8n0U90/Ul3BYSyR9II/AAAAAAAABNA/C3ossBacO10/s1600/Luke+Bear.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kdhpG8n0U90/Ul3BYSyR9II/AAAAAAAABNA/C3ossBacO10/s320/Luke+Bear.jpg" height="320" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
If you have any other ideas, please share! Leave them in the comments, send them to me on <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/BluewaterRdDsgn/" target="_blank">Pinterest</a> or post them on my <a href="http://www.facebook.com/BluewaterRoadKids" target="_blank">facebook page</a>. Long Sleeve Halloween Tshirt<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
My mom is my biggest customer. She likes to buy t-shirts for the grandkids to wear around the major holidays. I love it because it is my chance to experiment with different designs, materials and t-shirt suppliers. Here is the experiment I made my for my niece:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zzZu0sNcJJc/Uj76UixLSyI/AAAAAAAABJM/4Rmaje4d5Cs/s1600/Lydia's+tee.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zzZu0sNcJJc/Uj76UixLSyI/AAAAAAAABJM/4Rmaje4d5Cs/s320/Lydia's+tee.jpg" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Halloween cat with rhinestone collar.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Here are the two I made for my nephew and my daughter:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Glow-in-the-dark jack-o-lantern and Halloween kitty.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I had so much fun making these, I decided it was time to do another giveaway on my <a href="http://www.facebook.com/BluewaterRoadKids" target="_blank">facebook page</a>. The winner can choose either the (glow-in-the-dark) Jack-o-lantern long sleeve tee on the left or the Halloween Kitty long sleeve tee with lettuce edges on the right. At this time sizes 2, 4, and 6 are available. Both are made with soft Monag tees.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sOaMAVBLc1E/Ujh-Q1Bw0ZI/AAAAAAAABH8/jvnu0Cb_UX0/s1600/Behind+the+Scenes+Upcycled+Zipper+Pulls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sOaMAVBLc1E/Ujh-Q1Bw0ZI/AAAAAAAABH8/jvnu0Cb_UX0/s400/Behind+the+Scenes+Upcycled+Zipper+Pulls.jpg" height="400" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I love giving old things a new purpose. I think it is something I get from my grandma. She was upcycling way before it was called upcycling. This is the woman who made a purse for me out of an old margarine tub and yarn when I was a little girl. (Next time I go home, I will dig out that photo and post it here.) I also<i> hate</i> spending more on an item just because it has Dora's or Clifford's face on them. So when Bug needed a backpack for preschool I decided to make my own "Clifford" backpack.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yEFkQcPankQ/UjvI6HtTbUI/AAAAAAAABIg/oekuxfzhm90/s1600/Abbys+backpack.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yEFkQcPankQ/UjvI6HtTbUI/AAAAAAAABIg/oekuxfzhm90/s1600/Abbys+backpack.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I purchased a small backpack from a second hand store (a $4 score) and made a Clifford zipper pull out of a garage sale Clifford book and zipper pull parts I had from my <a href="http://www.bluewaterroadkids.etsy.com/" target="_blank">shop</a>. At that time I was experimenting with personalized zipper pulls, which is why I had all the parts. If you follow me on <a href="http://www.facebook.com/BluewaterRoadKids" target="_blank">facebook</a> you may have seen this picture I posted of one experiment:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ld5B2DP-V04/UjcpRBWtf5I/AAAAAAAABHs/vI6SVOmT08o/s1600/IMG_20130606_152900+(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ld5B2DP-V04/UjcpRBWtf5I/AAAAAAAABHs/vI6SVOmT08o/s1600/IMG_20130606_152900+(1).jpg" height="286" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
A few weeks later I was missing my nephew and when I miss him, I get crafty. I found a hoodie on clearance at Target ($3.50) and a beat-up Disney Cars picture book at a local thrift store ($.50) and created a one-of-a-kind sweatshirt. It was the perfect back-to-school gift for my favorite little guy. </div>
<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jNO8LvDX7Xg/Uju5ydh-DCI/AAAAAAAABIQ/j_ezKOnXFOw/s1600/Luke's+hoodie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jNO8LvDX7Xg/Uju5ydh-DCI/AAAAAAAABIQ/j_ezKOnXFOw/s1600/Luke's+hoodie.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I had so much fun making those two projects, I decided to put the personalized zipper pulls (above) on hold and turn my attention towards these upcycled zipper pulls. Here are a few I have made recently:<br />
<br />
Abby from Sesame Street:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YMb8aJietdI/UjcivbS4J3I/AAAAAAAABG4/6fjZ0pTkFzY/s1600/DSC_7673.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YMb8aJietdI/UjcivbS4J3I/AAAAAAAABG4/6fjZ0pTkFzY/s1600/DSC_7673.JPG" height="320" width="272" /></a></div>
<br />
Curious George:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vTexU1zHMcQ/Ujci1fUqPxI/AAAAAAAABHA/AV0B91GsBJ0/s1600/DSC_7688.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-vTexU1zHMcQ/Ujci1fUqPxI/AAAAAAAABHA/AV0B91GsBJ0/s1600/DSC_7688.JPG" height="263" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Winnie the Pooh:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-APzIRfxZ-1M/Ujci2SdCNAI/AAAAAAAABHI/ubvAFNxQqWw/s1600/DSC_7713.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-APzIRfxZ-1M/Ujci2SdCNAI/AAAAAAAABHI/ubvAFNxQqWw/s1600/DSC_7713.JPG" height="320" width="297" /></a></div>
<br />
Tiana from The Princess and the Frog:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N_ScuBs1GGA/UjckUN_YEmI/AAAAAAAABHU/ibpjk-CYsKM/s1600/DSC_7718.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-N_ScuBs1GGA/UjckUN_YEmI/AAAAAAAABHU/ibpjk-CYsKM/s1600/DSC_7718.JPG" height="320" width="159" /></a></div>
<br />
Ariel from The Little Mermaid:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aFxuIumzK1s/UjckU6MjFcI/AAAAAAAABHY/rMM5gHQGBtU/s1600/DSC_7720.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aFxuIumzK1s/UjckU6MjFcI/AAAAAAAABHY/rMM5gHQGBtU/s1600/DSC_7720.JPG" height="320" width="169" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here is how I make them:<br />
<br />
First I start with a discarded or damaged book. Here is the perfect example-a used Spider-Man workbook.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YdHC4JHfFRs/UjceetjSCDI/AAAAAAAABGs/-NleR5Br45k/s1600/DSC_7693.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YdHC4JHfFRs/UjceetjSCDI/AAAAAAAABGs/-NleR5Br45k/s1600/DSC_7693.JPG" height="204" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Next I cut out small images of the character. In this case I used three Spider-Man images from the page on the right.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aXssJtQVnbs/UjcebURjrgI/AAAAAAAABGg/teuvEyiqXGk/s1600/DSC_7695.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-aXssJtQVnbs/UjcebURjrgI/AAAAAAAABGg/teuvEyiqXGk/s1600/DSC_7695.JPG" height="255" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Last I used a button making machine to turn them into one-of-a-kind zipper pulls for some lucky little Spider-Man fan.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f9lMRwyUVec/UjcebKps2XI/AAAAAAAABGc/_twrRFyH7q4/s1600/DSC_7697.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-f9lMRwyUVec/UjcebKps2XI/AAAAAAAABGc/_twrRFyH7q4/s1600/DSC_7697.JPG" height="286" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<br />
I only have a few upcycled zipper pulls in my<a href="http://www.bluewaterroadkids.etsy.com/" target="_blank"> Etsy shop</a> right now because I have some interest from a brick and mortar store. More on that soon! In the meantime, I'd love it if you would leave me a note on my <a href="http://www.facebook.com/BluewaterRoadKids" target="_blank">facebook page</a>. Let me know what characters your kids are into these days. Thanks!<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Notes: </span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Choking Hazard-contains small parts. Not intended for children under three or older kids (like mine) who still put <i>everything</i> in their mouth.<br />These pulls are water resistant but you should remove them before you toss your item in the washing machine. </span><br />

Well here you go...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DN4KkGTFk3c/UiihyCmBXyI/AAAAAAAABEs/pLXvwFfYB3k/s1600/Trick+or+Treat+KraftBlok.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DN4KkGTFk3c/UiihyCmBXyI/AAAAAAAABEs/pLXvwFfYB3k/s320/Trick+or+Treat+KraftBlok.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
As I was looking for Halloween inspiration online I came across the cutest idea from <a href="http://www.thescrapreview.com/2012/09/vinyl-starter-kit-by-silhouette.html" target="_blank">The Scrap Review</a>. As soon as I saw it, I thought it was perfect! Not too scary but not too cutesy either. Of course, I pinned it on my <a href="http://pinterest.com/CraftyTomboy/halloween/" target="_blank">Halloween board</a>.<br />
<br />
Here are my materials:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>7.5" KraftBlok: </li>
<li>Black Indoor Adhesive Vinyl</li>
<li>Transfer Tape* (not pictured)</li>
<li>Candy Corn</li>
<li>Black Ribbon</li>
</ul>
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6AWLK2fqzPo/UJHiFjPxwtI/AAAAAAAAAMs/arluNOyWtv0/s1600/P1020465.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6AWLK2fqzPo/UJHiFjPxwtI/AAAAAAAAAMs/arluNOyWtv0/s1600/P1020465.JPG" style="cursor: move;" unselectable="on" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My supplies.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
**Transfer Tape is reusable. I was able to reuse mine from an old project.<br />
<br />
If you are new to Silhouette and/or adhesive vinyl Silhouette America has detailed <a href="http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/files/printableInstructions/vinyl.pdf" target="_blank">printable tutorials</a> on their website. This is just a quick "Show & Tell."<br />
<br />
The only thing I wanted to change was the text. I thought the phrase "Trick or Treat" was more appropriate seeing as the glass block was filled with candy corn. I chose <a href="http://www.silhouetteonlinestore.com/v2/viewShape.aspx?id=33127" target="_blank">Trick or Treat</a> by Jamie Koay (Love her!) from the Silhouette online store. I re-sized it to 6.25 by 6.25 so it would fit inside the block nicely.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BBIhxuGW2t8/UiClCBXWGAI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/63Biimu8iyk/s1600/Trick+or+Treat+Screen+Shot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BBIhxuGW2t8/UiClCBXWGAI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/63Biimu8iyk/s1600/Trick+or+Treat+Screen+Shot.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Then I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the design. (See link above for details.) Next I weeded the vinyl.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6iZAc809lwA/UJHkGfqlqGI/AAAAAAAAANc/Pk9k8SAt788/s1600/trick+or+treat+vinyl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="285" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6iZAc809lwA/UJHkGfqlqGI/AAAAAAAAANc/Pk9k8SAt788/s1600/trick+or+treat+vinyl.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Cutting and weeding my design.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I then used transfer tape to adhere my design on the front of the block.<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bb7aGi191ok/UJHnDoRDNmI/AAAAAAAAANw/-Ywytp1PwSY/s1600/trick+or+treat+vinyl+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="285" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bb7aGi191ok/UJHnDoRDNmI/AAAAAAAAANw/-Ywytp1PwSY/s1600/trick+or+treat+vinyl+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Using transfer tape.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Note: Before I applied the design, I made sure the opening and plastic plug was on the <i>bottom</i> of the block.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TrhoyQ3hs5E/UJHiq_2UqRI/AAAAAAAAAM0/IfSsSLW_12c/s1600/P1020473.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TrhoyQ3hs5E/UJHiq_2UqRI/AAAAAAAAAM0/IfSsSLW_12c/s1600/P1020473.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">BOTTOM of the block. </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
And now the fun part! I pulled out the plug and tossed in the candy corn. (Of course, I put the plug back.)<br />
<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-duoW5HCChAo/UJHjJjp-1WI/AAAAAAAAANA/YznNrMD5M9s/s1600/P1020477.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-duoW5HCChAo/UJHjJjp-1WI/AAAAAAAAANA/YznNrMD5M9s/s1600/P1020477.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Filled with candy corn.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Finally, I wrapped the ribbon around the entire block and tied a bow. I chose wire ribbon because it holds a nice bow shape.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t08uEqXbyLg/UJHjswQCJBI/AAAAAAAAANQ/Mc3bK1zu9Oc/s1600/P1020480.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="267" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-t08uEqXbyLg/UJHjswQCJBI/AAAAAAAAANQ/Mc3bK1zu9Oc/s1600/P1020480.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The finished product!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
There you have it! Happy Halloween!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704342901458194021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3228831582725746054.post-87143436259392860762013-08-31T08:29:00.000-06:002013-08-31T08:29:22.958-06:00Easy Facebook Covers for Grandparents: A PicMonkey Tutorial<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Choose "From my computer" to select some adorable pictures of your kids. (Good thing grandmas think all photos of their grandkids are adorable.) I would choose at least three.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BFWpOaFRQQA/UiCppp79dOI/AAAAAAAAA9I/RMOw_iRvz7o/s1600/from+my+computer.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="261" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BFWpOaFRQQA/UiCppp79dOI/AAAAAAAAA9I/RMOw_iRvz7o/s1600/from+my+computer.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
You can upload one at a time (if you have them in different folders) or you can hold ctrl and upload several at a time like I did because all of the photos I want to use are in one folder. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ju12uGvoGC4/UiCthVvm9ZI/AAAAAAAAA9s/8gE1s1hNK1o/s1600/pic+photos.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ju12uGvoGC4/UiCthVvm9ZI/AAAAAAAAA9s/8gE1s1hNK1o/s1600/pic+photos.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After uploading all your photos, click the collage button. It looks like a square made of a rectangle and two small squares. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6NnUujasA8o/UiCuXffedkI/AAAAAAAAA90/9J1WvA3qAn8/s1600/photos+are+there+now+choose+collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="217" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6NnUujasA8o/UiCuXffedkI/AAAAAAAAA90/9J1WvA3qAn8/s400/photos+are+there+now+choose+collage.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This brings you to a lot of fun choices. (Keep this in mind for future gifts.) But since we are making a Facebook cover, choose "FB Cover."</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pADTFJXlvB0/UiCvjGBU7QI/AAAAAAAAA-A/BJRjaxPFTTc/s1600/now+choose+FB+cover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pADTFJXlvB0/UiCvjGBU7QI/AAAAAAAAA-A/BJRjaxPFTTc/s1600/now+choose+FB+cover.jpg" width="214" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There are four options for Facebook covers. Click on the template you like but don't stress. You can always delete or add cells later.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4QhDJLt2u5o/UiCwOd9HkWI/AAAAAAAAA-I/TwwRdSzLHLQ/s1600/you+have+four+options+for+facebook.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4QhDJLt2u5o/UiCwOd9HkWI/AAAAAAAAA-I/TwwRdSzLHLQ/s1600/you+have+four+options+for+facebook.jpg" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I chose the third option. Next, click on the photo icon (mountains and sun) to get back to your photos. You can click on the "Autofill" link (up top) to automatically fill your collage or you can drag them one at time into the cell of your choice.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aJz0rHBSE0w/UiC0OQaDc7I/AAAAAAAAA-U/kfj-BgJYHSc/s1600/now+click+on+the+photo+icon+to+go+back+to+your+photos.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="217" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aJz0rHBSE0w/UiC0OQaDc7I/AAAAAAAAA-U/kfj-BgJYHSc/s400/now+click+on+the+photo+icon+to+go+back+to+your+photos.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Photo options.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After you drag a photo into a cell, you can play with the position and size. Use your mouse to drag the picture into position. For example, I wanted my image to be centered so I had to pull it towards the center. You can also zoom in to make the picture fit in the cell better. Hover your mouse over the photo and click on the "Edit" button. This will bring up another dialogue box. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Basic editing options.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You will notice two tabs: "Basic" and "Effects." Basic editing lets you play with the size, position and exposure. Effects is a Royale feature (see the crown). In order to access the Royale features, you will need to upgrade to a fee-based membership account. You do not need any Royale features for this project. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As you continue to add pictures, you may have extra cells. No worries. You can easily delete them. Hover your mouse over the unwanted cell and click to X to remove it. This will automatically resize any photos in the same column. </div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bye-bye extra cell.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
While designing a facebook cover, you need to keep the profile picture in mind. Remember it will hide part of your cover photo. I made this mistake when designing my first collage for my own personal page.<br />
<br />
Here was my first experimental collage:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5ZPDHTW5rxk/UiH1JAAfQlI/AAAAAAAABEU/IjAmgknzJ3Q/s1600/FB+Cousin+Collage+2013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="147" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5ZPDHTW5rxk/UiH1JAAfQlI/AAAAAAAABEU/IjAmgknzJ3Q/s400/FB+Cousin+Collage+2013.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Cute, right? But look what happened to my girl's face when I published it on facebook. It was totally covered. I tried to save it by cropping her cute little face in my profile pic. Lesson learned.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2xMH0ZY30nY/UiH2cgTJppI/AAAAAAAABEc/DN7wwkSFyK4/s1600/CT+Facebook+page.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="186" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2xMH0ZY30nY/UiH2cgTJppI/AAAAAAAABEc/DN7wwkSFyK4/s400/CT+Facebook+page.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Back to grandma's cover photo. I chose the photo on the left because I don't care if the dress gets covered by the profile picture. I also like how the yellow flower pops against the ruffle details of the dress. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jAoODHpTbew/UiC8OKUcYCI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/O4ilYCuZUW8/s1600/I+wanted+this+picture+to+be+cut+in+half.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="138" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jAoODHpTbew/UiC8OKUcYCI/AAAAAAAAA_Q/O4ilYCuZUW8/s1600/I+wanted+this+picture+to+be+cut+in+half.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br />
Also consider where you want to place text (if any.) I wanted to place some text above the profile picture. In order to do this I first had to create a cell. I wish there was an "add a cell" button on Picmonkey-maybe soon. In the meantime I created my own by dragging a picture right on top of the dress picture. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nCacwoO_etY/UiC9mw2Xl1I/AAAAAAAAA_Y/1Rsoz6_FMnQ/s1600/so+I+created+another+cell.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="177" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nCacwoO_etY/UiC9mw2Xl1I/AAAAAAAAA_Y/1Rsoz6_FMnQ/s400/so+I+created+another+cell.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="background-color: white;">Which created another cell with a photo inside it. Remember, I want a blank cell. By clicking on the x I was able to remove the photo but keep the cell. See the second picture below. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DHqGbhq1RCA/UiC-sEClrqI/AAAAAAAAA_g/81iGTE9biJ4/s1600/I+clicked+on+the+x+to+remove+the+image+(but+not+the+cell).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="218" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-DHqGbhq1RCA/UiC-sEClrqI/AAAAAAAAA_g/81iGTE9biJ4/s400/I+clicked+on+the+x+to+remove+the+image+(but+not+the+cell).jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4DYp4lwriow/UiC_RoxRN9I/AAAAAAAAA_o/ybnrlTIryfw/s1600/which+left+me+with+this+-+a+blank+cell.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="162" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4DYp4lwriow/UiC_RoxRN9I/AAAAAAAAA_o/ybnrlTIryfw/s400/which+left+me+with+this+-+a+blank+cell.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Blank cell for future text box.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once you have all of your photos in place you can resize them to your liking. Hover your mouse over the edge of the photo. Once your cursor changes, hold it and drag your photo as far as you would like. You will have to play around a bit. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nPyS8d2tXtE/UiDApbqVSHI/AAAAAAAAA_0/CP9xwe6nIGw/s1600/paint+pallette-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="165" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nPyS8d2tXtE/UiDApbqVSHI/AAAAAAAAA_0/CP9xwe6nIGw/s400/paint+pallette-001.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Perfect.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now you can add a background color to make your photos pop. Click on the background icon (paint palette) to bring up the background menu. The background menu lets you change the spacing in between photos, round the corners and add a colored or transparent background.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ujp05PQJZAU/UiDDgBqGrdI/AAAAAAAABAA/epclTepuF9E/s1600/paint+pallette.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ujp05PQJZAU/UiDDgBqGrdI/AAAAAAAABAA/epclTepuF9E/s1600/paint+pallette.jpg" width="220" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Background options.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There are two options for choosing a background color. 1) You can choose a color from the color graph by clicking on the graph itself. Or 2) you can use the dropper tool to pick a color from the photo. I wish I could show you but the print screen function on my computer doesn't pick the dropper tool up. Here is my collage when I tried to pick up the flower color:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-krcxtpsRzrQ/UiDIJLHaM8I/AAAAAAAABAg/Kp8UXGNaNv0/s1600/dropper+tool+to+pick+up+color+from+flower.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="191" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-krcxtpsRzrQ/UiDIJLHaM8I/AAAAAAAABAg/Kp8UXGNaNv0/s400/dropper+tool+to+pick+up+color+from+flower.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Yellow background.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And here is the collage when I tried to pick up the dress color: </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1k5_Pr9g3CI/UiDIq3Wv5sI/AAAAAAAABAo/RLsAB9WqKd8/s1600/when+I+picked+up+the+dropper+tool-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="171" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1k5_Pr9g3CI/UiDIq3Wv5sI/AAAAAAAABAo/RLsAB9WqKd8/s400/when+I+picked+up+the+dropper+tool-001.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Teal background.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Ignore the "Transparent Background" box. Transparency doesn't apply here because we are making a facebook cover.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The background menu also allows you to adjust the spacing between the photos. As you play with the spacing notice how your photos are automatically resized.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is spacing of 20:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fSiDz_72UB0/UiDFrYlz6rI/AAAAAAAABAM/dH0PqezwtEo/s1600/with+spacing+of+20.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fSiDz_72UB0/UiDFrYlz6rI/AAAAAAAABAM/dH0PqezwtEo/s400/with+spacing+of+20.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here is spacing of 10:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vpL8suSkvD4/UiDF8CtKiAI/AAAAAAAABAU/yZvYKI_mBBQ/s1600/with+spacing+of+10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="151" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vpL8suSkvD4/UiDF8CtKiAI/AAAAAAAABAU/yZvYKI_mBBQ/s400/with+spacing+of+10.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If you like rounded corners you can adjust just how rounded your corners are. Here is my collage with rounded corners: </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zgsSuZN9MsU/UiDJ3zZ--2I/AAAAAAAABA0/YeEA6Qd0MDg/s1600/playing+with+corner+rounding.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="172" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zgsSuZN9MsU/UiDJ3zZ--2I/AAAAAAAABA0/YeEA6Qd0MDg/s400/playing+with+corner+rounding.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When you are finished uploading your photos and playing with the background, click "Edit" at the top of your screen.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-y1yooKBBoio/UiDLp_Hd70I/AAAAAAAABBA/Bl-EGQX1TZc/s1600/edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="136" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-y1yooKBBoio/UiDLp_Hd70I/AAAAAAAABBA/Bl-EGQX1TZc/s400/edit.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
You <i>need to make sure you are happy</i> with your layout. Once you bring your collage to the editor you can not come back and change it. When you are sure, click the green "Open in Editor" button. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-44AY1yic6rI/UiDNUSXJUAI/AAAAAAAABBU/_zHooN81nsY/s1600/open+in+editor+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="177" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-44AY1yic6rI/UiDNUSXJUAI/AAAAAAAABBU/_zHooN81nsY/s400/open+in+editor+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div>
Once you are in editor your screen will look like this:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pUSQQkFe5uA/UiDOZTmmNqI/AAAAAAAABBc/ds4iwBFzzZY/s1600/now+you+are+in+editor.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="221" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pUSQQkFe5uA/UiDOZTmmNqI/AAAAAAAABBc/ds4iwBFzzZY/s400/now+you+are+in+editor.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Editor homepage.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now you can add text and fun overlays. Start with the overlays. Click on the overlay icon (heart, speech bubble and starburst grouped together). As you can see there are a ton of options. Notice the crown icons again? You can only use those overlays if you are a Royale member. Not to worry. You really don't need a lot of overlays. The grandkids should be the star of this show.<br />
<br />
Because I wanted to include a quote about grandmothers, I chose paper scrap overlay. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9OWin1yX3D4/UiDP6dJh3mI/AAAAAAAABBo/dlNgEYGJrvU/s1600/overlays+paper+scrap.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="226" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9OWin1yX3D4/UiDP6dJh3mI/AAAAAAAABBo/dlNgEYGJrvU/s400/overlays+paper+scrap.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Drag your overlay choice onto your collage. Then pull the corners to adjust the size. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jr2X5MLUXRY/UiDQqK98AhI/AAAAAAAABBw/je69uxmNc3I/s1600/use+mouse+to+drag+over+drag+corners+to+resize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="170" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jr2X5MLUXRY/UiDQqK98AhI/AAAAAAAABBw/je69uxmNc3I/s400/use+mouse+to+drag+over+drag+corners+to+resize.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now for text. First click on the text icon (capital P) and then click on "Add Text." A text box will appear in the middle of your screen. Click on the text box to add your quote, title, message (etc.). <span style="background-color: white;">Once you type in your text, use your mouse to drag it in place. You may need to drag the corners to change the size.</span><br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oo1LWTqnx74/UiELK8v4bkI/AAAAAAAABDs/TfAMRO1KtO8/s1600/text+box+take+two.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="188" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-oo1LWTqnx74/UiELK8v4bkI/AAAAAAAABDs/TfAMRO1KtO8/s400/text+box+take+two.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div>
PicMonkey allows you to customize your text in many ways including choosing a font. First highlight your text. To choose a font, simply click on the name of the font from the list on the left. You will need to choose a font that does not have a crown next to it. (Unless of course you choose to upgrade to Royale.)</div>
<div>
<span style="background-color: yellow;"><br /></span>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7B0zDpnXvu4/UiDVN_8maHI/AAAAAAAABCI/A70ftn8Xef8/s1600/granmda+frosting+text.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="188" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7B0zDpnXvu4/UiDVN_8maHI/AAAAAAAABCI/A70ftn8Xef8/s400/granmda+frosting+text.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You may want to title your collage like I did. Simply, add a text box like you did above. Write your text and highlight it. Head over to the "Text" dialogue box to play with the color, size and position. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3zBRys4x7F0/UiERyn-aXWI/AAAAAAAABEE/f8ztsoH6PJQ/s1600/text+box.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3zBRys4x7F0/UiERyn-aXWI/AAAAAAAABEE/f8ztsoH6PJQ/s320/text+box.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
For my title (see below), I found gray on the color graph, clicked on the center icon to center the text and used the sliding scale to make the text fit just right in the space.<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KSZuG4zvqnY/UiEMJDeqG9I/AAAAAAAABD0/e2yPNgvnCDo/s1600/Collage+for+Gail+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="147" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KSZuG4zvqnY/UiEMJDeqG9I/AAAAAAAABD0/e2yPNgvnCDo/s400/Collage+for+Gail+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Just about ready to send to grandma!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now that your masterpiece is complete, you need to save it to your computer. Click "Save" at the top of your screen. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MNhpe5AkYfk/UiDW98dzKsI/AAAAAAAABCc/WLM1kp1q5kg/s1600/save+button.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="157" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MNhpe5AkYfk/UiDW98dzKsI/AAAAAAAABCc/WLM1kp1q5kg/s400/save+button.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First enter your file name. Then choose the "Quality" of your pic. Your options are "Roger", "Pierce" and "Sean." Get it? Took me a second. (Hint: James Bond.) Pierce is fine for this project. Click "Save to my computer." </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6M_gmFaZVs0/UiDY0HinrfI/AAAAAAAABCo/Q7H95bSIkHA/s1600/Save.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6M_gmFaZVs0/UiDY0HinrfI/AAAAAAAABCo/Q7H95bSIkHA/s400/Save.jpg" width="215" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Now that your masterpiece is finished and saved, send it to grandma and watch all the "likes" pile up.<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Applying a toilet target is pretty easy. Here are the details:</div>
<br />
<span style="color: blue;"><b>{Step One}</b></span> Clean toilet.<br />
(Not my favorite either.)<br />
<br />
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NULM5UPjrAI/U9fHQhbmOTI/AAAAAAAABjU/0lf3IPyFCKM/s1600/DSC_0704.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NULM5UPjrAI/U9fHQhbmOTI/AAAAAAAABjU/0lf3IPyFCKM/s1600/DSC_0704.JPG" height="320" width="211" /></a></div>
<br />
<span style="color: blue;"><b>{Step Two}</b></span> Scoop out excess water.</div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k4Mso1G9Rug/U9fHRNyOlVI/AAAAAAAABjc/7rS2Mk1HM50/s1600/DSC_0706.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-k4Mso1G9Rug/U9fHRNyOlVI/AAAAAAAABjc/7rS2Mk1HM50/s1600/DSC_0706.JPG" height="320" width="211" /></a></div>
<br />
<b><span style="color: blue;">{Step Three}</span></b> Wipe dry. Wait 1 minute. Wipe again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yboHVXr1PrI/U9fHQ6MkF8I/AAAAAAAABjY/p425LbPQyBg/s1600/DSC_0714.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yboHVXr1PrI/U9fHQ6MkF8I/AAAAAAAABjY/p425LbPQyBg/s1600/DSC_0714.JPG" height="320" width="211" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<span style="color: blue;"><b>{Step Four}</b></span> Peel away solid paper backing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gMh1_UF3kMw/U9fHXrAbFdI/AAAAAAAABjs/QgyBct74-sk/s1600/DSC_0717.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gMh1_UF3kMw/U9fHXrAbFdI/AAAAAAAABjs/QgyBct74-sk/s1600/DSC_0717.JPG" height="320" width="211" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<b><span style="color: blue;">{Step Five}</span></b> Place the target, sticky side down, on your desired location. Firmly rub target working from the center out. Use finger, credit card or popsicle stick.</div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9ux0QFAAheI/U9fHYezmnGI/AAAAAAAABj0/Lh4iizjw8uk/s1600/DSC_0718.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9ux0QFAAheI/U9fHYezmnGI/AAAAAAAABj0/Lh4iizjw8uk/s1600/DSC_0718.JPG" height="320" width="211" /></a></div>
<br />
<b style="color: blue;">{Step Six}</b> Slowly peel away clear transfer paper.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5iVvtDRUIdk/U9fHYBveDoI/AAAAAAAABjw/7bbdk1CgRQk/s1600/DSC_0720.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5iVvtDRUIdk/U9fHYBveDoI/AAAAAAAABjw/7bbdk1CgRQk/s1600/DSC_0720.JPG" height="320" width="211" /></a></div>
<br />
<b style="color: blue;">{Step Seven} </b>Smooth any leftover wrinkles or bubbles, if necessary.<br />
Use finger, credit card or popsicle stick.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wBKbhPMZNUA/U9fHcM4-BWI/AAAAAAAABkE/bi0bZSErGek/s1600/DSC_0721.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wBKbhPMZNUA/U9fHcM4-BWI/AAAAAAAABkE/bi0bZSErGek/s1600/DSC_0721.JPG" height="320" width="211" /></a></div>
<b><span style="color: blue;"><br /></span></b>
<b><span style="color: blue;"> {Step Eight}</span></b> Tell your boys to aim away!</div>
<div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KuURccFNnjo/U9fHdNVP8sI/AAAAAAAABkM/Ex5qiMypNPU/s1600/DSC_0722.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KuURccFNnjo/U9fHdNVP8sI/AAAAAAAABkM/Ex5qiMypNPU/s1600/DSC_0722.JPG" height="320" width="211" /></a></div>

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1jl4T0gcZmU/UhU6ZWkREhI/AAAAAAAAA6U/Y-SySnTS4M8/s1600/Rainbow+Hopscotch+title.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1jl4T0gcZmU/UhU6ZWkREhI/AAAAAAAAA6U/Y-SySnTS4M8/s400/Rainbow+Hopscotch+title.jpg" width="270" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As I was browsing Pinterest, I came across <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/114349278011691365/" target="_blank">this pin</a>, a brilliant idea from <a href="http://www.happinessishomemade.net/2013/04/15/easy-diy-rainbow-paver-hopscotch/" target="_blank">Happiness is Homemade</a>. It caught my eye because Bug has been talking A LOT about hopscotch. (No clue where she got the idea from-Clifford or Caillou probably.) I had one of those, "I can sooo do that" moments. So I did. Here is how:<br />
<br />
First, I made a sketch. Nothing fancy-just a quick sketch on the back of an piece of junk mail. Hope you can read my chicken scratch. It is crazy how bad my handwriting got once I stopped teaching.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l6d59DrQ0xg/UhU_shXi_pI/AAAAAAAAA6s/vuP3dGKv3qg/s1600/P1030182.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-l6d59DrQ0xg/UhU_shXi_pI/AAAAAAAAA6s/vuP3dGKv3qg/s320/P1030182.JPG" width="240" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Quick sketch and spray paint price comparison.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Next, I raided my spray paint collection to see what I already had in the garage. Luckily I already had a few cans from some previous projects, like my <a href="http://www.bluewaterroaddesigns.blogspot.com/2013/01/lessons-learned-my-first-mod-podge.html" target="_blank">mod podge table</a>. Then Bug and I went off to Home Depot to pick up the pavers and the few cans of spray paint that I needed.<br />
<br />
Here are the colors that I used:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xtWvIJRwr20/UhU0_D7iiTI/AAAAAAAAA6E/pgNKm5vQxi0/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xtWvIJRwr20/UhU0_D7iiTI/AAAAAAAAA6E/pgNKm5vQxi0/s1600/PicMonkey+Collage+2.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Paint Colors</td></tr>

Now the fun part! (I have a not so secret love affair with spray paint. Ask my neighbors. I always have some painting project on my driveway.) I applied one coat of spray paint to the appropriate paver and let them dry overnight. This is where my sketch came in handy. The next morning I applied a second coat to the lighter colors (pink and yellow.)</div>

As those were drying, I created a stencil using my Silhouette Cameo and plain white 12x12 card stock. If you don't have a Silhouette, no worries. You can create your own with an exacto knife or purchase a set of stencils at any craft store.<br />

Next, I worked on painting the numbers. Again this is where my sketch came in handy. I initially used painters tape to keep the stencil down but it didn't work so well once the wind picked up. A few river rocks from our yard did the trick.<br />

I applied regular old white acrylic paint with a 1 1/4 inch spouncer (both from Michaels.) I started with the edges and then worked my way towards the center. I used my finger to hold down the edges in order to get the cleanest line possible. A couple of tips: 1) Take your time. I rushed through the last few as I tried to finish during naptime. Some of the numbers bled. Not a huge deal. I was able to touch up later. 2) Use less paint than with bristle brushes. You can always go back and add more later.<br />

I had a ton of fun making these simple painted pavers. I think for our next house, I might make some with the alphabet or shapes. Hand prints or shoe prints might be fun too.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06704342901458194021noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3228831582725746054.post-17526733789816623622013-07-27T16:35:00.002-06:002013-09-26T09:53:24.118-06:00Super Cousins! My crafty friend Kari made the cutest superhero cape for our friends' son's 3rd birthday. At the party, she mentioned she was going to make another one for a girl with rhinestones. Which got me thinking. A superhero cape would make a perfect addition to our dress up closet. I am always on the lookout for dress up clothes that aren't frilly princess dresses or wedding gowns. (For those of you who already know me, you know I don't do divas and I can only handle princesses in moderation.)<br />
<br />
At first this was just going to be a non-princess dress up outfit but then it exploded to full-on Halloween costumes for the entire family.<br />

Like I said above, this year we decided to do something superheroish. I present: SUPER COUSINS!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The two little cousins already had superhero outfits. I quickly made one for my niece (tutorial to come later.) We (my sister-in-law and I) asked my dad and a family friend to meet us at a park. We threw the costumes on and told the kids to go play.<br />

Can you tell what I added to the play fridge?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zQdBikSIjJs/UYExWeB1ueI/AAAAAAAAAk0/DI-378frXZE/s1600/Fridge+Tap+Light.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-zQdBikSIjJs/UYExWeB1ueI/AAAAAAAAAk0/DI-378frXZE/s640/Fridge+Tap+Light.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
A tap light! I was tired of Bug opening and closing our fridge to experiment with the light. Now she can play with this light and leave my fridge alone.<br />
<br />
I got mine at Target in the hardware section. Skip the dollar store tap lights. There is a reason why they are only a dollar. Your kids will just get frustrated by them.<br />
<br />
If you have tap lights in your playroom or kid's room, I'd love to see how you use them. Post a pic on my facebook page: <a href="http://www.facebook.com/bluewaterroadkids" target="_blank">facebook.com/bluewaterroadkids.</a><br />

<br />
<br />
My experience in the classroom has definitely influenced the way I designed Bug's <a href="http://bluewaterroaddesigns.blogspot.com/p/project-playroom.html" target="_blank">playroom</a>. It has been particularly helpful when it comes to choosing and organizing her books. Here are some of the lessons I learned in the classroom that I have applied to our home. <br />
<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
{Lesson 1} Books should be everywhere!</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
We have baskets of books in multiple rooms in our house. Although most of Bug's books are in her playroom, we also have books in other rooms of the house.<br />
<br />
<em>Playroom</em> We store miscellaneous books, seasonal books and audio books in the playroom. Seasonal books are books that are relevant to the time of year. Currently we have books about winter and Valentine's Day.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yuLIZZZ7o6M/UR13yvd5C_I/AAAAAAAAAeI/hPTMvTrN9oc/s1600/P1020803.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yuLIZZZ7o6M/UR13yvd5C_I/AAAAAAAAAeI/hPTMvTrN9oc/s1600/P1020803.JPG" width="231" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Playroom books: author set (top) and misc books (bottom).</td></tr>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Seasonal books: currently winter and Valentine's Day.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<em><br /></em></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<em>Bathroom</em> Potty (training) books are stored in our main floor bathroom. If you've done any potty training then you know you sometimes have time to kill. We also have waterproof books for the bathtub in our upstairs bathroom.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Bathtime books.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<em>Bedroom</em> We keep her nite nite books in a basket in her room. Her nite nite books have characters that are getting ready to go to bed and usually are asleep at the end.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Nite Nite books.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<em>Office</em> I stash a few books in my office to keep Bug entertained while I work. Currently we are practicing the names of all the colors.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Books about colors.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<em>Family Room</em> Library books are stored separately in the family room so we don't loose them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<br /></div>
<h3 class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Children are more likely to grab a book if they can see the cover (as opposed to just the spine.)<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Do: use a basket or bin. Don't: line up on a shelf.</td></tr>

<br />
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
<b>{Lesson 4}</b> Get your child his/her <i>own</i> library card.</h3>

Feel free to purchase a few favorites but then get a library card to fill in any "holes". This is especially helpful when kids get into a series or character. Currently, Bug is into Clifford the Big Red Dog. We have a couple of favorite paperbacks and visit the library to get the rest of the series.<br />

Places to purchase books besides Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com:<br />
<br />
<i>Library</i>: Most libraries have a "Friends of the Library" section where they sell donated books or books and magazines that are longer be in circulation. Generally, children's books cost $.25 to $1.00.<br />

You might have noticed that I did not include favors. I'm currently working on designing and pricing party favor robot tees. Would you give a t-shirt as a party favor? If so, how much would you spend?<br />

Don't get me wrong. I love the 80s-Care Bears, My Little Pony, Jem, Jelly Shoes but the 80s color scheme has got to go. I'll give the original home owners props for trying to be different but it is time to retire this design choice. <br />
<br />
In my dream world, I want to paint the house charcoal gray, paint the trim white, and paint the door turquoise or peacock blue. Then use pops of yellow accents. Kind of like this:<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tiQuavTtRfM/UOm1KT83sNI/AAAAAAAAAXQ/M6LnLVTfHaI/s1600/Gray+House+w+Turquoise+Door.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-tiQuavTtRfM/UOm1KT83sNI/AAAAAAAAAXQ/M6LnLVTfHaI/s1600/Gray+House+w+Turquoise+Door.jpg" width="267" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">http://www.designserendipityinteriors.com/2011/05/front-door-adore.html</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
Since painting the house is not exactly in the budget at the moment, I thought I would start with the mailbox. Last Spring I ditched my Cricut for the Silhouette Cameo and was dying to try a vinyl project. In my search for color inspiration, I came across this thank you card from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/stationarylane?ref=seller_info" target="_blank">Stationary Lane</a> on Etsy.<br />

How cute is this?! I just love how the dandelions pop against the charcoal gray background. How does this translate to a mailbox? Well, it goes something like this:<br />
<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wnBbMlLuDp0/UIhrfS4_h1I/AAAAAAAAAME/30g8KBg6v58/s1600/mailbox-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wnBbMlLuDp0/UIhrfS4_h1I/AAAAAAAAAME/30g8KBg6v58/s1600/mailbox-001.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I blurred my street name. I've got a little one to keep safe! </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
I love it! I can't wait to try out more outdoor vinyl projects this Spring. Stay tuned!<br />

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mnpDwD6M7us/UOd2V__MrVI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/6q-72L_eIQA/s1600/Abby's+Table+Before+and+After.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mnpDwD6M7us/UOd2V__MrVI/AAAAAAAAAQ0/6q-72L_eIQA/s1600/Abby's+Table+Before+and+After.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I found a small unfinished table and pair of chairs for Bug when she was just two months old. At the time I didn't have a vision for the set but who has many creative visions when you are a first time mommy with a newborn? My Luv Bug is now 2 1/2. It's time.<br />
<br />
Recently, I started noticing a trend of Mod Podge fabric/furniture projects on Pinterest. I've pinned a couple on my <a href="http://pinterest.com/CraftyTomboy/playroom/" target="_blank">PLAYROOM</a> board. It got me thinking and inspired me to try a little Mod Podge experiment of my own...<br />
<br />
<strong>My Materials</strong><br />
-Wood Table and Chairs (Clearance Section at Joanns)<br />
-Custom <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/96595160/custom-us-map-with-hearts-any-color" target="_blank">US Map</a> from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/breedingfancy" target="_blank">Breeding Fancy</a> on Etsy<br />
-Spray Paint: Krylon's White Primer, Candy Apple, Lagoon (Home Depot)<br />
-<a href="http://www.plaidonline.com/mod-podge/brand/home.htm" target="_blank">Mod Podge</a> (Hobby Lobby*) Paper Mod Podge and Hard Finish Mod Podge<br />
-Sponge Brushes** (Michaels)<br />
<br />
*I <i>always</i> use the 40% coupon at Hobby Lobby!<br />
**I stock up on the sponge brushes when they are on sale at Michaels 20 for $1. <br />
<br />
<b>My Experiment</b><br />
First, I primed both chairs and the table and let them dry over night. Next, I painted the chairs candy apple red and the table lagoon and let them dry overnight.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VwmQXp-WkdI/UOd3euhSnXI/AAAAAAAAARM/7gsKmVj5eBY/s1600/Primed+and+Painted+Table+and+Chairs.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VwmQXp-WkdI/UOd3euhSnXI/AAAAAAAAARM/7gsKmVj5eBY/s1600/Primed+and+Painted+Table+and+Chairs.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Primed and painted.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The following morning I found a few areas where I got a little crazy with the spray paint and the paint dripped. I sanded those areas added a second coat. Again, I allowed it to dry overnight.<br />
<br />
Now the hard part...<br />
<br />
I spread a medium layer of Paper Mod Podge over the top of the table-just in the middle where I was going to place the print. (The Mod Podge website suggested to use a "medium" amount in order to avoid wrinkles.) Carefully {nervously} I placed the map on the middle of the table. I used my hands to smooth out the bubbles.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VOPpoDaK8EI/UOhbflN4dQI/AAAAAAAAATk/a58-zN7e9Xk/s1600/P1020578.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VOPpoDaK8EI/UOhbflN4dQI/AAAAAAAAATk/a58-zN7e9Xk/s1600/P1020578.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aQi0geddmNg/UOhaoe0IDUI/AAAAAAAAATc/iOznh2169tg/s1600/P1020580.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aQi0geddmNg/UOhaoe0IDUI/AAAAAAAAATc/iOznh2169tg/s1600/P1020580.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As I was getting the bubbles out, some Mod Podge leaked out the sides. When I wiped the excess Mod Podge with a paper towel, I wiped off some ink from the edges of the print. I don't know why this happened. Do you?<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WwuMEMzrQ7I/UOd4elY_zaI/AAAAAAAAARk/bZN21pJJa9Q/s1600/P1020581.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-WwuMEMzrQ7I/UOd4elY_zaI/AAAAAAAAARk/bZN21pJJa9Q/s1600/P1020581.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Not sure what happened here.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
I came across more issues with the edges of the print. Because the print was mailed in a tube, the edges were slightly rolled. If this were 1983 I would have used our encyclopedias to flatten the print. In the digital age I don't even have a phone book to use! So I slapped a piece of plastic on top of the table and turned the table upside down. I added some catalogs on top for additional weight.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IBJHHiUlAzA/UOhUwOshbVI/AAAAAAAAAS8/lyCIzWXUUYk/s1600/P1020582.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IBJHHiUlAzA/UOhUwOshbVI/AAAAAAAAAS8/lyCIzWXUUYk/s1600/P1020582.JPG" width="200" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BqzVeiEOJu0/UOhU1usZl7I/AAAAAAAAATE/cqghnW2hTmA/s1600/P1020584.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BqzVeiEOJu0/UOhU1usZl7I/AAAAAAAAATE/cqghnW2hTmA/s1600/P1020584.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
After a couple of hours, I started to add a coat of the Hard Finish Mod Podge. Following the directions, I added a new coat every 20 minutes for a total of 3 coats.<br />

As I was reading the instructions on the bottle, I discovered that it takes FOUR WEEKS to cure. That is just not going to work for a two-year-old. My plan is to use some Krylon gloss sealer that I have leftover from my mailbox project. But that will have to wait because it is now January and I don't know when we are going to get above 50 again. Oh how I miss sunny San Diego! </div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The finished project! </td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Overall I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. Here is what I learned:<br />
*It's called Mod Podge, not Modge Podge.<br />
*For large pieces of paper and furniture, a roller might be helpful to get the bubbles out.<br />
*The Hard Finish Mod Podge for furniture takes FOUR weeks to cure.<br />
<br />
<b>What's Next</b><br />
I really want to Mod Podge a graphic map of San Diego on our kitchen/craft table to create a permanent "table cloth." I need to do some more research because I can't wait four weeks for Mod Podge to cure. Any advice?<br />

We just moved the playroom from the basement to our underused upstairs sitting room because Bug doesn't like to play down in the basement by herself. This included moving her alphabet wall decal. Yes. All 102 pieces. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The first time I applied the decals to the basement wall, I had a laser level which has since disappeared. (Sigh.) As I sat there staring at the wall, I remembered my dad and I used chalk line to create straight lines when we put up dry wall in my parents' garage. Some chalk line would have been awesome (then again so would a laser level) but I was stuck at home with my car at the mechanic. I would just have to make due with stuff I had in my house. </div>

First I measured and marked 42 inches (from the ground) where the A would sit and again where the Z would sit. Then I hammered a nail on each mark. Next I tied one end of a piece of yarn to each nail, creating a straight line across my wall.</div>

Using the yarn as my guide, I adhered the letters on the wall. Because each letter is a different size and font, I placed the bottom of each letter against the yarn.</div>

It took some patience but I finally finished. My next project is create a wall gallery above the alphabet to display Bug's art (because the tape looks ridiculous), finish the coffee shop and find a way to display/store picture books. Stay tuned! </div>
